The Basic life support training program is intended for healthcare professionals from various medical fields and settings which include hospitals, out-patient clinics and home healthcare agencies. Course Content:
- Key changes and updates in Basic life support based on the 2010 American Heart Association (AHA) guidelines for cardiopulmonary resuscitation and emergency cardiovascular care
- Immediate recognition of stroke and sudden cardiac arrest
- Early assessment on patient’s circulation, breathing and airway (CABs); as well as the patient’s level of consciousness and responsiveness
- Effective chest compression techniques highlighting the compression’s quality, rate and depth
- Proper rescue breathing sequences to provide adequate ventilation
- Continuous CPR until return of spontaneous circulation (ROSC) and its termination when resuscitative efforts become ineffective
- Rapid defibrillation using an automated external defibrillator (AED), if indicated
